rock and treeby pearlseyesComment: Good detail throughout. I like the slight sepia tone. Good job on the sky with interesting clouds.
The structure of the clouds could have been bumped a bit. Overall, the image is a bit flat (due to the overcast sky, I'm sure). This image would have benefitted from a wider tonal range which would have been represented by highlight and shadow interplay. |

As the End Draws Nearby neenee1999Comment: Wonderful crepuscular rays. The acute angle to the sun did create silhouetted trees, far shore and beach. The water horizon shows some lens barrel distortion or fisheye effect. I might have fixed that for an AA challenge. The glow on the water is nice. The scene is nicely framed by the trees. |

No Rose No Driftwoodby pixelpigComment: Excellent conversion to b&w. You nailed the focus and detail on the flower. That said, the wood grain is OOF. The lack of deep DOF creates a distraction. I admire the control of exposure, especially on the flower which has superb detail in the shadows and no blown out highlights. |

Hell's Lakeby salmiakkiComment: Dramatic sky. Wonderful scene. Pretty good control of detail in the shadows. Some detail lost in the tree reflection in the water, but it's not unnatural. I fully understand why you are presenting a portrait orientation image. The viewer is looking into a canyon/waterway. Feels a little tightly cropped from side to side. Overall, a beautiful image which I expect will be a top 10. |

Lumber Mill, Whitehorse Mountainby Brent_SComment: Great sky.... wonderful clouds and dramatic sky conversion to monochrome. I like the toning here.... possibly some Selenium toning. The view to the mountains seems a bit hazy. Could be the time of day and the acute to the sun. Some detail lost in the shadows of the forest and the lodgepole pine stack. The manmade structure on the left is not a plus. I do like the layers (foreground, wood pile, forest, mountains, sky). |

Petitcodiac Riverby MarioPierreComment: Beautiful sun rays out there. They are the strongest part of the scene. Because of the acute angle to the sun, much of detail on the shady side of the rocks and trees is lost, as in blocked up shadows. The detail in the foreground shows good clarity. Grounds the scene well. |

Rock and Waterby GeneralEComment: Geologically interesting, as this shows various historical levels of lake/river. Great detail on the stone wall. Lovely luminous glow on the water. I think this needs an additional element of interest, especially a focal point. |

Treeby AbraComment: A bit too much center middle for me. While I think the highlight detail was well contained, the shadow detail is lost in several shady areas. It appears to be a high contrast time of day. I do like the tone of the sky and the sky gradient. |

Azalia and Leavesby eyestrangeComment: Truly beautiful. My opinion is the conversion from color to B&W could have produced a more dynamic tonal range. As elegant as this is, the monochrome version seems slightly flat and possibly underexposed. Needs more dynamic light. |

A River Runs Through Itby PaulComment: Possibly an overcast sky with snow laden clouds. The sky's lack of features and detail distract from what is an otherwide great job on the rocks and river. Super job of controlling shadow detail. |
