It's a touching subject with a gentle treatment, but IMO the heavy angular frame seems to almost violently imprison it. The tiny bit of...person(?) in lower left keeps drawing my eye tho' I'd rather watch the sweet child.

I like the mood your treatment evokes, like the lighting, composition, colours. The only slight distraction is seeing something behind there, but in basic there's not a lot you can do about that :)

The colours are interesting in this, but when there's action in a shot (ie the waves) it more often works better if the subject isn't centered. Maybe cropping between the two blocks would help? And in lower light situations if you don't have a tripod see if there's anything handy to make a support with. I like the basic shot and I hope my suggestions help :)
