To make this sort of image work you have to have some element that is outstanding. It can be the lighting or the composition or whatever. This image really struggles for anything extra-ordinary. Probably great in a family album.

A Mother's Love

Yeah the mothers face is hidden but the real star is the baby, so as a faceless portrait its sort of not true to the spirit of the challenge. I'm not a stickler for the letter of the law, so I'll let that slide by.

The image is nice and soft as it should be, but the only sharp element is the hair of the mother. That feels wrong. My eyes want to rest on the baby, but they keep getting drawn back up. The basic structure of the image is therefore a trouble to me. Its not an easy image to look at in that respect.

Tremendous use of light here. I hope all those people who entered 'dull as ditchwater' images see this and really study the lighting. Listen up people ... look here for an example of great work.

The angle of view really works well putting the red against the blue sky. Maybe a red helmet might have added that final touch
