Nice tint and composition. The fish plate and wheel coincide making it even better.

Great work. I was wrong about the light direction, obviously. Glad to see your creativity with the 350XT won the day!

That's the Ricinus communis or the castor oil plant. Castor oil used to be of great economic value. It was used in two stroke gasoline angines (I call them petrol engines) to lubricate the pistons. The burned petrol had a wonderful perfume from the oil. Dirt bikes (motorcycles) used it especially. But eventually it became illegal to use in the UK at least. It was also used medicinally in the 'old days' of not so long ago. If one had a case of constipation as a child, the oft given remedy was a horrible-tasting tablespoon of castor oil. Finally, in modern times it is terrorism that brings this plant to the forefront. As the Latin scientific name suggests, this plant is the source of the deadly poison ricin. Yet it is one of the most beautiful plants you can find in a herb garden in the summer.

Personally, photography aside (and what the heck is photography anyway but a means of subverting the good old paint brush and palette for less capable artists?), this is an image of artistic value. I don't really care how it was made - it helps that it was based on a real scene - but the end effect, to me, is perfectly graphic and one I could live with in my collection of art. Hemingway's Skiff, is that the title?
