Well, another nice report from Speakers Corner. By now I expect you know most of the plain clothes cops that hang around there and they also know you too. Maybe you're one yourself ;-). I remember meeting the infamous Special Patrol Group at SC in the 80s. It was not a pleasant affair, that's for sure.

Read John Hersey's book, A Single Pebble. One day I might show you b/w photos of my trip up there long, long ago, long before this dam was constructed. The book is certainly worth a read. I like the photo. Let's see some more from China.

That's a tragic story. There was a news article about similar strandings in Tasmania earlier this year or last year which suggested that sonar from a naval (possibly submarine) exercise causes damage to the whale's navigation system. I think other research has also concluded similar findings. It is a really dramatic photo.
