spikesby tignishComment: Oh, wow, this is very beautiful! The background is so shiny and glowy, and the flower has excellent colour/light on it. I wonder if a less centred composition would work a bit better. (8) |

Said the Spider to the Flyby jimnessComment: Beautiful! The out of focus flower just glows. Love the placement of the spider. It could be argued that the challenge was flowers but the main subject (or subject in focus) is the spider. And then, it could be argued that main subject doesn't always need to be in focus :) I hope you do well in the challenge! (9) |

Under the Tuscan Sunflowerby CutterComment: Beautiful! You controlled the light just right. Love how the flower is against the blue sky, but most of the stem/leaves are against brown/green. The clouds are beautiful. The image is so clear throughout. (9) |

Joyby puzzledComment: Love this image! Totally agree with Judy and Brad below, this should have done so much better. |

The Entrance (Epiphyllum oxypetalum)by smccComment: Looking at the sunset through a hole in the grasses or flowers? Beautiful idea, although I don't think it works quite right here. Maybe the "frame" is too busy (in particular the x like silhouette is distracting)? I don't know. I think it's a concept that's worthy of a lot more exploration, but as it is it doesn't quite look right. (6) |

Three Callasby KenComment: Beautiful callas, well photographed (although the image is a bit dark IMO). What I'm not so sure of is the concept. The placement of the flowers seems so artificial, and without any apparent purpose. (6)
Looking at it again :)
The light on the flowers is really quite beautiful, especially the two laying down flowers. Now I'm thinking "tic-tac-toe". These things are really hard to photograph. I better quit while I'm behind. Message edited by author 2006-07-05 14:42:56. |

Treeline Columbineby hahn23Comment: Very beautiful natural image. This is what flowers really look like! I like it (but I don't think the image is going to work all that well for the challenge). (7) |

Softly Sofltyby sherpetComment: Good idea, although I think in this case the shallow DOF works against you, as it draws way too much attention to the one petal in front. The image looks quite a bit oversharpened. I also wonder, the title, "Softly Softly", the image doesn't really look soft, looks strong instead. The background is beautiful. |

Blue Budby sfaliceComment: Beautiful image. I think if the top part of the flower were lit as well as the stem, and the drop falling off the petal were in focus, it would be a perfect shot. |
