Chaos Theoryby KodakComment: i don't know how you did it, but I like this complex wash of faces. abstractions feel more like experiences than images. they seem to take place over time instead of freezing a moment. |

A little cafeby mluComment: i know i've been fooled before but it's hard for me to believe this is anything but a photo of artwork.
painting abstracts reality through the bluntness of a brush, and also through the intermediaries of the human eye and hand. These translators of reality by necessity abstract it. |

Vernal Huesby GeneralEComment: blur can create simple, textured fields of color that are quite beautiful. blur is a visual metaphor for abstraction. |

50 Shades of Spanish Classby billy1204Comment: yes language is abstract. a foreign language reminds us how abstract it is. any connection to reality is manufactured in our minds. |

Chromatic warpby SistoComment: this suggests an orderly but destructive motion. we see the beauty of dissipation in all its abstract glory... almost an eye looking back at us. |

State of the Unionby PennyStreetComment: blur obliterates the thing and leaves only the abstract... the highlights, the colors, and the shadows... this is like a floating city |

blue & yellowby tamatamaComment: the swaths have abstract patterns but are also themselves used as part of an abstract pattern. randomness can be abstract but so can orderliness. anything that removes the subject and leaves only the motion of seeing. |

Hodgepodgeby LawtonComment: pure abstraction. just rhythms of light over rhythms of color. enough variety to keep it interesting, and therefore pleasing to the eye. |

Red Blue Yellowby ivsipbComment: abstraction can make an object more sinister because we're not quite sure what it is. oh dear, is it sharp? how close is it? |

look what you didby cutoutComment: extreme glare and motion obliterates representation, so all we see are glare and motion and they look the same. this is the deep chemistry of abstraction. |
