wonderful. the skeptical photos with the skeptical quotes, then the bride gets caught up in the moment, the photos get blurry and the quotes get romantic.

I enjoyed both photographic modes. The tack sharp freezes on indecisive moments convey the liminal state everyone is in as they prepare for the rites. The blur is ethereal and decisive.

I often ask myself how do I combine words and images? I see failure after failure, where words just seem to distract from the imagery or vice versa. The two distinct media seem to hate each other.

and here you come along and make it look so easy. your words and your images need each other like two people falling in love.

Runaway Trains

For me, this was on the cusp between 4 and 5. I found the image a bit muddy. Pictures of trains generally are not that interesting to me. Trains are glorious creatures but usually aren't transformed much by a camera. Your editing work to add sparks/smoke/perspective added a point to the score. To be honest, I didn't notice the guy sitting on it. On my scale, a 3 is a meh photo that isn't doing anything interesting. So I bumped it to a 4. Much like in real life, I generally give credit for the end result, not the work put into it.
