Maybe your title is coloring my perception, but this reminds me of Yeats' rough beast. The world is melting into a single creature. I love the slight details above the fence that are still recognizable, roofs and trees. Not just recognizable, but buildable. Our brain builds the rest of the scene, and puts our own past there, to be swallowed up by apocalypse.

I assume this is a combination of images. The perspective just doesn't make visual sense. It makes more of a metaphorical sense, considering that compositionally her silhouette is perfectly placed amid the soaring towers. And what a great silhouette: no arms, bubbly shoes, boxy dress, and impossible hair, her stride so deliberate.

Funny that the photo I love the most is the one I am least able to explain. But I'll try ... First, I think the title is right. The first thing we see are the green doors, the ones ahead of us and the ones behind us. This puts us in mind of inside and outside. Then of course we have the girl peeking at us, she is inside the car but her head pokes outside. The closed car reflects us, and more doors. The man on the other side of the car completes the symmetry of the situation. His presence makes the photographer's reflection seem deliberate, even necessary.

and also, it's all just beautiful, plain beautiful. The pallet is simple, reds and greens, transcended by the little girls outfit and her pink sleeves. There is unexpected warmth to this street scene, as if we were indoors instead of outdoors... inside / outside.

writing about this photograph, I feel like a deer trying to describe the car that hit me. the impact is so obvious to me.
