dog daysby posthumousComment: Originally posted by DrAchoo: I see you felt this added to the desolation feel, but I'd push you a bit and ask you how? |
Metaphorically. It represents the sense of being overwhelmed by your environment, of losing your sense of identity. It even suggests death, the way the body is reclaimed by the earth. Yes, I'm a poet. :)
But I also have a taste for the flatness of an image. I like the way this picture has one texture throughout and the dog as such is seen only as a disruption of the texture. Instead of "popping" from the frame, the dog humbly melds into the environment, and that humility is echoed in her expression.
After all, I could have easily distinguished the dog from its environment by leaving in the color. :) |

Having Funby captbenderComment: the picture has a fragmented effect. your sister's face is lit in a completely different way than your wife's face. Also, it looks like your sister's head is kind of lying on her shoulder without them really being parts of the same body. Personally, I like it. It has a collage feeling to it. |

Shatteredby snafflesComment: I love the poetry of this. It doesn't quite offer the visual feast that my 9s and 10s do, but it is moving nonetheless. 8. |

Dust Bowlby SJCarterComment: this is such a Georgia O'Keefe picture, with extra fur. The addition of a living creature who seems to be at one with his surroundings the way Georgia wanted to be at one, adds a profound twist. 8. |

Abandonedby liltritterComment: completely convincing model, and a composition that makes her the unambiguous focus of the picture. 8. |
