Door to Windowby posthumousComment: Originally posted by levyj413: But what's interesting is that I'm having a figure-ground problem. That is, I first saw the two green areas as the subject, and thought "huh. waayyy off-center in a very deliberate manner."
Then my mind flipped and saw the central column as the subject. I quite literally hadn't even glanced at it at first.
And then I flipped back again. |
For better or worse, this was my intention. You describe the effect beautifully! |

The Ringby Jaded_HousewifeComment: this is head and shoulders above the competition. wow wow and again wow. I haven't actually seen the movie, but I'm convinced this is scarier than the movie is. where's the 11? alright, 10. |

Nature's Magic Wandby JPRComment: I gave this a 7. It is, I think, the only "magic of nature" shot in the challenge that actually managed to convey a sense of magic. |

Soap Operaby CalliopeKelComment: this has a wonderful esprit, by which I mean a sincere goofiness. I love it. The lighting has a certain semi-operatic quality to it that completes your joke. |

flipperby bucketComment: he looks like a sea creature! he is at one with the sea! great composition, from the shiny crome to the shadow in the pool to the discarded items. you have major shapes that are a little slanted and don't quite line up with each other (major shapes: pool in light, pool in shadow, section 1 of poolside, section 2 of poolside. your subject bordered by chrome might count as a major shape as well). This is a good thing! It creates a dynamic, visually interesting picture, the eye is mostly drawn to your subject but also drawn back to the shapes on the right side. An extremely fun picture to look at, yet perhaps the most important thing about it is summed up by my first two sentences above. |
