Awwwww, what a cute widdle poodle. It is the photographer's job to see things in a new way, and you provide a direct and amusing example. 8

rich colors and dof creates a personality out of one of your stalks, and also a sense of loneliness. 8

excellent. you made this as simple as it could possibly be to still retain interest, and your bravura is being punished by dpc voters, I'm sure. but you get a 9 from me. this is what harps are like in heaven.

the variations in hand size and the old-timey processing make this much much better than the tiresome multi-image water drop shots that infect this shot. You show them how it's done. This picture is emotional, ominous, beautiful. 9

closed eye as fruit. as far as I know, this is a strikingly original notion, at least photographically, and it is utterly captivating and disturbing... and perfectly executed. George Bataille would have loved this. 9

This isn't very abstract. The background is abstract, but the leaves are highly recognizable and have all sorts of symbolic and sentimental associations. In fact, they bring this picture to life. It feels as though they are swirling in a frozen vortex. It somehow becomes a meditation on memory and loss, but also what is retained. And I can't bring myself to vote less than 9 for this.

In the world of drawing we always talk about having an expressive line, achieved through variation in width and variations in darkness, accomplished by varying the speed and pressure of your arm. What you have here is a very expressive line. 9

good title. There is truly a sense of winter in this picture. I just love the texture and am very curious how you achieved it, and what this is. Cinematic and beautiful.

This also would have been great for the no subject challenge. It is a minimalist masterpiece, you could not have shown one pixel less of the creature without still giving a sense of the creature. I feel like I can see it even though I can't. Your title reminds me that the creature is also looking at me, adding another dimension. 10
