One, Two, Manyby CutterComment: I find the composition compelling, and love the figure of the walking toddler from behind... but could it be that there was a little too much burning? the darkness seems so unnatural. it's great that you highlight the two important compositional elements, sign and baby, but to my esthetic you went just a step too far. But then again, I'm a sucker for subtlety. |

Saltburn Pierby FalcComment: very cool composition. oddly flat considering how much perspective is involved here (I mean that as a good thing!). I gave it a 7. Message edited by author 2006-09-11 10:24:05. |

Sweet Babyby L1Comment: nice use of DOF to point our attention to the pastel elements: the eyes and nose. It also somehow conveys the almost desperate neediness of a kitten. I gave this a 7, and I want to know your secret for getting a 6 out of DPC with such a creative picture. |

Pursuit of Cloudsby ShannonLeeComment: I gave this a 7, which is a very high score from me on a landscape, since landscapes usually bore me, even when they're pretty. This one's got some good energy from the crashing wave, the reflections and the crazy clouds. |

...hush now...by sadiebirdComment: I think it's wonderful to use pastel colors to create an effect not usually associated with pastels, but that is way beyond the proto-neanderthal understanding of the average dpc voter. I personally gave you an 8. |

Yellow Jacketby RebeccaComment: I loved your 50s effect. The pastels were on the girl herself. The balloon has pastel colors but they are darkened. This creates a wonderful, suspenseful effect... ominous... which matches her expression. I gave this a 9. |

Seagull Boyby JucaComment: your processing has achieved a pastel effect, even if it is in earthtones. The unusually high angle sets this apart from Cutter's wonderful photo. This is disorienting without needing to be quite as kinetic as his. 9 |

Nature's Brushby CEJComment: the obscurantism of the clouds and the bright colors of the rainbow combine to give a sense of pastel. The composition is a thrilling, glorious mess of abstraction. 9 |
