congrats on the 6+. I came so close to commenting on this, but ultimately forgot. I gave it a 7. I love how it is ultimately not a portrait, but a picture of a bruise. ok, I'm exaggerating. But the bruise is so important to the shot. Very interesting.

beautiful, but your crop is wrong: too static.

the creativity of this shot is undermined by the makeup... allow me to explain. The make-up says to the viewer "I want you to like me, I want you to think I look pretty." The make-up is an attempt to be conventional, to be normal, to be accepted, which works against the more interesting and delirious effect of the strange angle, the harsh shadows and the enigmatic symbols.

maybe she's not wearing a lot of makeup... but I think I mean more than just the make-up, it's the whole treatment of her face, her gaze... it ruins the experiment, sort of like explaining the joke, or saying "I'm just experimenting here, you can feel safe."

love the picture but it's pretty much the opposite of high contrast, as far as I can tell. 6

you have made the entire world into an insignificant piece of colored glass, but ever so pretty. art can do no finer thing. 10

addendum: I'm sorry if my wording alarmed you. I really think you did something wonderful. After all, every photograph is a matter of taking the big, fat world and squeezing it into a little square. You have revealed the bones of that process. Many photographs do this, and I think it's a very good thing to do. In your case, you simply turned your photo upside-down, showing that it was never rightside-up to begin with. That's a fairly common "trick" with reflections, but it's very successful here: reality does a good job of being a rich, dark reflection of artifice.

wonderful capture. I feel like I know so much about this girl, about how she approaches life. I can almost sense her whole life. I like her, I root for her: she is brave. you have revealed a spirit she has, one that might be hidden from most, or might even be hidden from her. 8
