This is a very creative capture of a very complex shadow
Aesthetics: An exceptional composition/exceptional aesthetics 3
This is a really well balanced and harmonius composition to me. The parallelism in the vase and shadow, the ellipse captures at the union of th two and the softness of the background compliment the colours and the shadow dynamics.
Technical: Technically well executed 2
Maybe - just maybe - a little more DOF as the neck of the vase seems a little out focus?
Wow: Slaps you in face 3
There is just so much to like about this image.

I like the image and the use of B&W but feel that the shadow - th epoint of the exercise - has been lost a little in the image. Maybe a tighter crop loosing some of the foreground?

I love the way the fly's shdow has been caught but it is lost in the vast expanse of the leaf. Maybe a tighter, portrait crop would help?
Technical: Technically OK 1
It seems as though the area of the leaf where the fly is is out of focus and there is a lack of DOF around the fly
Wow: Has some impact 1
Brilliant idea that would have scored higher if the DOF, focus and crop had been tighter

The compressed shadow from the midday sun is well observed

I cannot help but feel that the image would have had more impact with a toghter crop around the main subject, pulling the shadow into the front row.
Technical: Technically OK 1
The highlights are badly blown for me but there is a sense where this adds to the impact of the shadow.
Wow: Has some impact 1
By pulling the shadow more into the composition I think that this image would have significantly increased my score.

I am not sure that it does but there is a shadow!

It is moody for sure, but not evil. The shadows do not add to the image and it feels as though it could have been cropped tighter

Simple but effective with the blue of the wood really acting as a great backdrop

This is let down by a lack of detail in the latch, padlock, hasp and handle where the shadows are too dense
