Up close and personal there... the smoke needs to be more distinct I fear. It looks like blobs of white against a man's chin.

Ok, I see smoke here and like how it's blending into the clouds (or creating the clouds). Not sure how "major" a role the smoke is playing however as this seems to be more about a construction site or plant with the smoke being secondary.

Titles should not help the photo reveal itself and in this case your title does that wonderfully. I cannot see an old woman in there, but hey, I fail Rorschach tests too. The in your face flash is very distracting and I find I'm averting my eyes from even a photo. Too harsh light (light smoke from the side is best I think).

Not seeing any smoke here... perhaps it's what's making the lady holding "a smoke" so blurry. Wait! Is that a wisp of smoke just near the rear tire of the passing car? Perhaps. But it's not very major in the photo... Even if the theme was simply smoke (and the description did not clearly indicate "smoke" as in burning something), the cigarette is far too indistinct to be considered "major".

Not seeing any smoke here. I see "a smoke" or more the silhouette of one in her hand, but no "smoke" to play a major role. The red hat and harsh shadows don't help this either. Selective color makes that color the star, so this is nice enough for a hat challenge.

About what we expect from this challenge. It is lovely color and ribboning of the smoke, but it seems like it doesn't add anything of character.

Or out of focus fibers. Or some other stand in for smoke. It just doesn't read as smoke as it's toooo abstract. Lovely colors though.
