Seriously, who would be so dumb to give out 1s just because a photo is not interesting for them? Those votes would be scrubbed at rollover, or do you really believe most of the other shots in the challenge would be far more interesting for such a person?
Besides that, you could try and check last 200 challenges ribboners for a similar shot and look if you find more than one. Even if you were right, it would only strengthen the theory that a specific kind of probable ribboners is easily identifiable. |

Unfortunately yes. If you have a look at the top 5 of almost any challenge, you will notice that every shot that looks like a typical dpc ribboning shot ( i.e. strong impact, tack sharp, well exposed, mass appealing subject) gets more 1s and 2s than shots that are not as easily recognizable as ribbon candidates, For some examples see the 4th in "Black and white", the 3rd, 4th and 5th in "Pet Portrait", 3rd, 4th and 5th in "Leading Lines", 2nd in "Peace" etc. So obviously there are some people that try to identify a future ribboner and vote it down by purpose. |

Identity Crisisby ZeppKashComment: referring to a recent thread, this could be heavyj's shot. well done, I'm curious how exactly you pulled it off (can only guess right now).
The reflection on the spoon could have been much enhanced. |

Schrödinger's Catby charliebakerComment: Would make for a good album cover for some german electropunkpop band of that name. The symbols are a bit lame, though. Just curious: how could you know it was in that box? |

Redby Gaby_GComment: good lighting and sharpness. glass is a tad too small for the big image. might have been moreinteresting to tilt the glass and have a straight level |
