Excellent DOF here and great detail in the bird. I love how you have caught the eye too, allowing the viewer to really connect. Only thing I am not sure about is composition but I am stumped for how you could improve it! :o)

Looks like you have a beautiful dog!!:o) I think maybe positioning his paws in the lower left corner and the back end in the top right corner would have been a more interesting composition :o) You have captured some lovely detail but with the Best of Challenge there was a certain amount of WOW factor needed in the shots and unfortunately I think this is what is lacking here....this is just my opinion :o)

Looks like you have a great subject here! For me the lighting on the face is way too harsh and I am not sure I like the orientation. Maybe this would have been better with the girl in portrait format rather than horizontal? :o)
