Tree-framed Roadby Hendry JacobyComment: Looks like a lovely road with the old trees hanging overhead. Besides feeling a tad tilted to the right, the shot seems to be a bit blue. Perhaps a quick auto-levels adjustment would bring out some of the natural greens/browns of the trees? |

Traditionalby AbstractComment: Nicely framed, and love the detail in the decorations. I wish the focal point was a bit further back though so that her eyes/face were more focused with the fabric being less of the focal point. As it is, my eye is immediately drawn to the circles of gems in the lower left corner. |

"ALL IN"by negativeComment: The shot is well framed with the chips, but seems a bit hazy. I think even running this through the quick automatic adjustments in photoshop would help to take away the yellowish cast and brighten the whole shot a bit. |

Through the Dustby ElaineComment: Wow, 115th? I really didn't agree with the masses in this challenge. Others commented on the reflections ruining the shot, but I thought they were just the thing that made this shot unique! The leftover signs sitting in the back make you wonder what the building was used for, and the reflections give a glimpse of color, and show that life is still going on, right outside the doors of this abandoned building. One of the few shots in the challenge that really told a story for me. I think it was a great take on the challenge! |

Mysteriousby glad2badadComment: 94th? How on earth did this end up way down there? I thought this was a unique perspective of an abandoned building... almost one of those 'beauty in the everyday' type shots. Great repetition, symmetry and details to look at. I looked at this for a while trying to decide if I liked the ground at the bottom or if I would have preferred it to be out of the shot (if in fact the building was big enough to find a spot where the ground wasn't in the foreground), but decided that it helped to give a little extra shape to the shot, instead of just a 3x3 grid.
Anyway... I thought this was a great take on the challenge, and a welcome change from all the old buildings hidden in a bunch of gnarled trees. |

On Top of the Worldby JutildaComment: This is wonderful! Makes me smile just to look at it. Such a candid and tender moment. I'd love to see the original for this one... seems like it could have started as just your average snapshot, but was turned into a magical photo with your post processing. Congrats on your top 10! |

American Darlingby bvyComment: Great angle and I like the centered composition... I think if I were processing this, I might try just a tiny levels adjustment (or contrast boost), a bit of sharpening (but probably just for the hydrant, not the sidewalk), and maybe even to 'colorize' it to give it just a hint of a sepia tone. |

Poinsettia [outtake 1]by bvyComment: The shot you entered was definitely stronger in many ways than this one... better focus, nice glow in the color etc. But, the one thing that I think this shot has going for it is the way the light hits the leaf, causing the shadows to show the texture. |

Poinsettiaby bvyComment: Great closeup shot with a nice capture of the textures of the leaf. As another commenter noted, the focus falling off at the edges doesn't seem to help the shot for me. I think if I had any other suggestions, it would be to have tilted the leaf just a bit more clockwise, so that the main vein was more diagonal, but being careful not to make the most focused area going completely horizontal. Anyway, nice shot and congrats on your new PB! |
