Personal tastes differ but to me it looks like the rose is just there because you wanted something in the picture. Also, it's a quibble, but it looks to me like the light source was actually moving around in the picture; "painting with light" is a technique where you have a darkened subject and you use a movable light (like a flashlight or laser pointer) to illuminate it, as if you were "painting" the light onto the subject. You're not alone; I've not seen many photos in this challenge that meet the technical description.

Interesting idea for a shot. Would have been miles better, in my opinion, if she'd been standing straighter and wearing something more appropriate. Because she's on a third line, because she's illuminated, and because she's in the middle of the circles, the eye is drawn right to her body (actually, mine goes straight to her bottom and tummy), and her baggy low-rise jeans, exposed midriff, and seeming slouching posture detract from the otherwise quite interesting shot you've set up.

P.S. I'd have liked to see it without the outside light on as well.

This looks like sunlight to me. OK, yeah, the sun is a moving light source, but you'll do a lot better in challenges if your image fits the spirit of the challenge and doesn't squeeze in on a technicality.

As far as the picture itself, that may be a poppy in California, but it's not a California (golden) Poppy. The composition is OK, but I'd like it better if the image were sharper.

I NEVER say this to people, because I remember clearly how much it annoyed me when I was into direct-from-camera shots, but a bit more post-processing would have made a big difference in the aesthetics in this shot, in my opinion. Still, quite well-composed, and a cute idea that meets the challenge. Scores highly in my book -- after all, this is a photography contest and not a photoshop contest. :)
