dof seems a little TOO shallow for me... the focus is on the knees/bells of the jesters.

Or maybe you could give it a blatantly shoehorning "disguise" title. ;)

This is an amazing and gorgeous photo.

I think it might have been more of a WOW image if the road led into the frame, or down the middle, rather than out of it. Even so I'd have given this a 7 or so if I'd made it that far in the voting; the tones are very nice and I like your choice of subject.

I didn't vote on this one. I'd have probably given it a 5 -- a decently shot photo of something that doesn't really SPEAK to me (remember we couldn't see your comments) but which is visually interesting. I think a slightly greater depth of field might have helped you a bit; if there's some significance to the bit of beadless string (the focal point) I don't know it.

I liked this a lot -- good composition, good subject, good title. I gave it a 6. I don't know why it didn't fare better. Maybe some people didn't know that those aren't just joysticks you plug into your TV? :)

I gave this a 5. I thought it was an OK image. Reasons I didn't vote it higher:

I thought it was just that little bit TOO yellow, just for my taste.
The lights are overexposed.
The composition feels a little out of balance. You have the lamp post pretty much on a thirds line, but then you have the (street? runway?) going straight down the middle. It just feels a little awkward to look at; there's nowhere to let the eyes come to rest somehow.

I completely fail to understand why this scored as low as it did. Sometimes the voters here make no sense to me at all. Enjoy the nice comments and forget about the score on this one. I think you had a great idea and pulled it off very, very well.
