That's a grand old building. Looks like the turret(?) arches are sealed, such a pity. Nice work on the pp, beautiful light and contrast.

I wonder if it would have a little more impact if you'd shot at a more extreme angle (entry, bottom-right to exit, top-left)?

That would have been awesome, but equally as good is Hahei beach, along the Coromandel Peninsula here on the North Island NZ. Just over a two hour drive from Auckland City.

Nothing. Actually, I hardly ever enter the free studies, which is likely why I didn't think of it til it was too late. Then I was out of the country for the Best Of 2007 challenge, so couldn't enter it then either :(
