This is a riot. I used to have a German Shepard, as well, and he would do the same thing - gulp big mouthfuls of water. Unfortunately, he did it in the Mediterranean Sea when I took him to Italy. He would bark at the waves and drink tons of salt water.

That in turn would make him very thirsty, so he would then drink bowl after bowl of regular water. And then he would pee and pee and pee. It was a bit stressful, that vacation. Anyway - this photo made me think of that. It was a long time ago.
