The falcon appears to be the subject of the photo, yet the title makes me think the falconer was to be the subject. I like the focus and lighting of the falcon, but the environment is not included and the hand is a distraction to me. If the falconer was to be the subject of the portrait then I think his face should have been included.

To me, this is not a portrait. I would like to see the face, and the subject seems to be the fire not the person.

To me, a portrait is a planned shot with the subject posing. This seems more of a candid shot.
