Profileby GoboltsComment: This would work better for me against a solid background. |

Donkeys in loveby snafflesComment: It is hard to get a portrait of such a large animal, but to me a portrait should have a more formal feel and the faces are most important. This shot could use better lighting, and the first thing I notice is the body of the donkey on the left. I have to make myself look for the face. |

A pet. A friend. A teacher.by silverfeatherComment: I think a portrait should show enough of the animal to know something about him/her. I think this is a horse, but there is no clue as to what makes him/her a pet, friend, and teacher. |

Beach Retrieverby DorsetgirlComment: I would like this with softer lighting (earlier or later in the day) and more focus on the eyes. |

Untitledby rtscribbs02Comment: To me, a portrait includes controlling the lighting and setting. This does not mean outdoor shots cannot be portraits, but that you must wait for the right light or set up some lighting, and make sure the background enhances the subject. I do not feel this was accomplished in this shot. |

Homerby DoubledizzleComment: To me, a portrait has controlled lighting and setting. Outdoor shots can work as a portrait but should not overwhelm the subject. I think it would help to tone down the blue and the green. The lighting seems too harsh, and the eyes are lost in shoadows. |

My Brown Eyed Girlsby kelli_KComment: The dog seems too blue and the girl too yellow. I prefer people not be included in a pet portrait challenge, but if they are they also need to be well lit and in focus. |

Gracieby MeGoobieComment: To me, a portrait has controlled lighting and setting. Lighting would have brought out details of her face, especially the eyes. The bacground is a little busy for me and the white blanket distracting. |

Safeby DiggyMacDComment: This shot tells a story, but is not a portrait IMO. I would like to see the puppy's eyes. |
