I like the angle of this shot which adds interest to the overall photo. Lighting and focus is very good where everything in the composition is very clearly and sharply visible. My only critique is that the model should have been captured lost in the music he is strumming. Instead he is looking up directly at us. And because he is making that eye contact with the viewer I don't 'feel' any vibes of music coming forth from this photo - especially since the title plays to the fact that he is strumming. Compositionaly I think it would be more interesting if we could see the player (with his face in profile at this same angle) getting lost in his music.

Impromptu Brainstorm

Points to you on originality! I could very well see this hanging on the wall in an architect's office:-) Instead of drawing design plans on a clean sheet of white paper it is the coffee cup the bears the "blueprint" of the design. Also when I gaze upon this photo I think of someone working either in the early morning hours or late night hours on a blueprint taking a few moments every so often to take a sip of hot coffee to keep themselves alert. Lighting is good, compostion is good, and concept is good. My only critique is that the choice of pencil could have been better and more sharper. By that I mean the shaved wood part leading up to the lead point should have been lighter because it blends in to much with the lead point. I see the person who is not in the shot being very meticulious, clean and sharp such that the lines drawn are very defined - so it should also be on the pencil (yeah, I know I am one for stickler details). Also, I would have liked the number of the Number 2 pencil to have been more visible and clearer to see. Aside from that this is a very good conceptual shot.

Exquisite Gaze

Wonderful bold hues pictured here in this portrait photo. I love how the girl is bringing the shawl to her lips. It is a captured action of shyness at the same time she levels this intense gaze at us that holds and arrests us. Very good shot that I could very well see appearing next to a story in National Geographic.

I really like this conceptual shot. It is very well done and not at all cracked:-) The overall composition is simple and clean. The message is not scrambled it comes in loud and clear. The viewer instantly makes the connection that the missing chick has been counting down the days in his 'cell' and now has finally broken free. Very well done!

I like the pastoral scene captured in this shot but what is so distracting is the over saturation of colors. The greens and blues are almost neon in intensity and while that adds an aspect of etheralness to the scene it also distracts. Lowering the saturation several notchs but still keeping a rich hue would improve this shot.

Desert Tendrils

Love the beautiful hues in this desert scene. The blues of the sky combined with the warm golds of the desert hills is captivating and beautiful to look upon. As added visual interest there is the cactus plantlife slightly off center in the foreground which adds to the composition. This is a place for quiet solitude.

Street Santa

Not many would find this interesting - but I think that this is an excellent capture of street photography. The main subject shows age and weariness in his face and eyes. This homeless santa does not entertain children on his lap - instead his faithful companion sits upon his lap offering comfort and companionship. The lighting and hues are also good that your eyes are captured by all the textures and rich hues in an otherwise stereotypically imagined scene of dreary dinginess. Great capture!!!

A calm, peaceful, and serene white wonderland. This is a really nice capture. But what makes this shot unique and interesting is that single white building nestled in the middle of nowhere. Had it not been in the center it would have easily been engulfed in the wide expanse of nature captured in this photo. I think you could have very easily zoomed in for a closer compostion that had the white house become more intrigal to the scene. Cropping out the mountain in the background so that the top of the scene would be just at the foot of the mountain and chopping out 1/3 of the left had portion would have made the house (and those horses!!! I think those are horses) more of an intragal part of the winter scene thus adding some more visual interest. Not only would you bring the focus on that single lone house and the horses but there would be another subtle added interest to the eye. The natural curves of the 'hill' the house rests on and the curve of the water as if follows the shoreline where the horses are grazing. It just acts as a simple curved line that the eye travels on from the house to the livestock grazing in this cold winter scene.

The Pout - Works Every Time

A very good shot and very different departure from the typical smiling child. I like that you chose to show a different emotion here. And boy, have I seen that pout on my own kids and even though it tugs on the heartstrings they DON'T always get what they want. Now back to the image, I have two critiques on this shot. One there is too much background in this shot and it serves to take attention & focus away from the main subject which is that pouting face. A tight crop specifically framing the head only would capture and keep our attention where it needs to be. Second, I really think that this shot would be better in B&W just to add a classic portrature look to it.

Holy cow! That is a alot of stingrays! What makes this shot interesting is the sheer number of them as they glide throught the water. In an odd way I look upon the blue of the water as the sky and populating that sky is this group of strange and unusual 'birds' taking flight. My only critique for this shot is that I wish that the stingrays were in sharper focus such that we could see details in greater clarity - but that may have been difficult if the water was murky....
