Tribute to "O Vento" by Wendell Penedoby JustinMComment: O.K. I was intrigued, so I googled O Vento by Wendell Penedo. I must say you did a bang up job on the tribute! With the exception of the change of stance, object the man holds, ruffled umbrellas, and featureless sky you really capture the surreal mood and feel that that is present in Penedo's image. My critiques on this piece is that I wish you stayed with a clean line sharp-edged umbrella rather than the ruffled edges because it just gives a nice clean lines to the overall image especially when you have the repeated umbrellas that are further away because the out of focus look gives them a ragged pieces taken out of them look. Next is that it seems to much of an unnatural (not to mention uncomfortable) stance that the man is holding up the umbrella that high. Bringing down the arm to a more comfortable level would make it seem less awkward and thus a bit more natural. |

P A T I E N C Eby Art RoflmaoComment: Yike! Look at the sideways feral glance this big cat gives! He/she really looks like they are sizing us up as it's next meal. Love the pose it is in - looks like it is waiting for the right moment to pounce. Details and lighting are great. My critique is that I think you could bring us closer to your main subject by either a closer crop or zoom to fill the frame with as much of this big cat as possible. Not only would it spotlight this dangerous beauty but it would make us feel & see that stare even more. |

Delicate by CaltropComment: Nice capture of this doe! I like the detail in that we can see (almost feel really) the downy softness of her fur. The two things that I would suggest to improve this image is that the contrasts and saturation seems a bit flat. Bumping up the contrast or even playing around with the shadow/hightlights/midtone levels would help the subject pop visually. As for the saturation it looks a little washed out - bumping up the saturation bias & strength would help deepen and enrich the hues without over saturating the image. Another way to do this in-camera as you are taking the picture is to play with a higher aperature setting (5.6 or 6) and a shutter speed of ohh 1/200 to 1/1000 to offset the bright afternoon sun that may wash out the contrasts and saturation in exposures (you may really have to play around with the setting before settling on what would be best the next time an encounter like this presents itself to you). |

Stained Glassby JuliBocComment: Love the lovely green hues seen on the butterfly and the leaf it rests on. Very nice sharp detail on the wings and the textures of the leaf. I like how the DOF is shallow and that it has a bokeh look background for the butterfly to pop off of. |

Untitledby luv2photoComment: Absolutely love the soft look of this photo for it invokes the feel of downy softness and delicate nature which perfectly complements this adorable little girl. Soft yellows and downy white hues are also complimentary in this baby portrait. The only thing that really needs to be present to make this photo shine & move into the above average category is that the viewer needs to see her face. The above shot angle and barely side profile just doesn't do it. We need to see her adorable face to compliment & complete this lovely portrait. |

My Perfect Summers Dayby taljComment: Agreed - nice cool beer to slake the thirst of a dry throat while a warm breeze gently blows one's hair. After several cool sips are downed one takes off the sunglasses to relax & enjoy the radiant glow of the summer sun. Love the amber color of the beer in that frosted glass. |

Ready to drop.by David NewlandComment: The B&W aspect really makes the textures on the petals of this closed blossom really stand out. One can almost reach out and visually touch the softness of the closed petals. The flower really stands out from the black background not to mention the calls the eye's attention to the single waterdrop delicately hanging, ready to fall. This is a very minimalistic, clean and elegantly presented capture. |

US Mailby StrikeslipComment: Love the composition and colors on this photo. The sky is wonderful! I really like the fire-orange clouds to slow fade from navy to slate blue to gold lit sky. The colors are beautifully saturated (without it being too oversaturated)...very rich in tone from those lovely greens to the colors of the sky. I like how you composed the shot too. The wonderfully decorated mailbox stops our attention right before the eye goes back to the road whose leading lines lead the eye off into the horizon to then travel up to the sky. |

Pennybacker Bridge in 3-Dby srdanzComment: Wow, talk about a picture that pops out at ya! You have taken that saying an embodied it in this image. And you have done an exceptional well job of it too. I like how you 'curved' the main photograph to add to the optical illusion of this being 3-D and popping out of the frame & image. The span of the bridge comes out of the main frame and continues off into the left bottom corner giving the eye some leading lines that lead off to the vanishing point of the road in the top right hand side of the picture. The 'wall' is a grey gradient that goes from light to dark horizontally - a good choice for it adds another dimensional aspect (rather than a flat one tone wall) as well as being complimentary without overpowering the main subject of this composition. |

When Life Brings You Lemons...by Breeee123Comment: Wow, the yellows of the falling lemons REALLY pop off of the hot pink background. Love the sense of motion in some of them showing that there is movement rather than static action taking place in the shot. Skin tones are great. The smile and the slight breeze that blows on the model's hair is a wonderful touch because it invokes the idea of happiness and taking an easy breezy approach to life which plays well into the title stating the old addage "If Life gives you lemons, make lemonade." The slightly pink hair is a good touch as well because it subtly plays back to that hot pink background. The main hues of bright yellows and hot pinks are bright and happy tones also perfect for the idea and mood you are trying to convey. My only critique - and a small one at that - is that I wish the composition did not crop or cut off a portion of the umbrella. It would be better if the composition had ALL of the main compositional elements within the frame. |
