Very nicely done. The added punch of color and the contrasts are greater in this after shot than the before. The photo has more visual impact with the greater contrasts such that the daisy now shines out from the backdrop - and the color hues are richer and deeper rather than flat as the original shows.

Wow, this is a cool composition. Makes me think of a coffee house, art center, art deco, and neon lights combined. A very cool, hip, artsy place to hang out, have a cup of coffee and enjoy the art and/or literature in this coffee house. Love the bold colors that pop visually. The striking differences in contrast between light and shadow give it distinctive look that is both appealing and takes on the appearance of a painting. Nice work.

Love the textures and details of this flower composition. The white backdrop allows the flower to pop visually so we can fully appreciate those textures & details. This is very beautiful work - it reminds me of the radiographs of flowers & plants that Steven N. Meyers does.

Short Story

Short Story

The soft off white hue on the composition gives this a soft and gentle 'feel' - which perfectly compliments the thought/ideas attached to the 'story' you are presenting. The soft hue, along with all the elements of the adorable tiny shoes, and the baby blanket backdrop relate the idea of a tiny child -a downy soft baby who needs to be cradled. The sign next to those tiny shoes sets the mood to sadness - instead of a symbol of joy about a new life there is a heart-breaking sadness for sign states these shoes were never worn. The picture and the title has much gravitas. Well done. Lighting, composition, details and color hues are wonderful.

BTW followed the link and enjoyed reading some of the other 'short' stories and some made me laugh...I think that some journalists could also write a short story with just a headline title:-) Some can just be terribly clever double puns as is this one is (one must know Star Wars to get it) Skywalkers in Korea Cross Han Solo

Love the bold hues of the oranges and blues in this composition. Very eye catching and the arrangement of elements is also pleasing to the eye. A ripple of orange splashes upon the deep blue 'ocean' surface. Orange and pale blue seastars adorn this ocean inspired composition. Very lovely.

Love the warm golden tones in this composition. Shells and the beach always invoke warm thoughts - and the golden hue of this shell compliments the thought. Details & lighting are wonderful. Arrangement of the major element is pleasing to the eye for the eye just follows the lines of the spiral on the shell as it curls inward. A lovely nature-found 6 nestled in the sand.

Been awhile since I commented so decided to stop by and take a gander at your portfolio. Wow! Julianne you have captured some splendid details in this photo of a raccoon. I could practically count all the individual hairs on this animal if I wanted too. Lighting and color hue are wonderful.

The beautiful red and yellow hues on this flower shoot out like flames lighting the darkness. Love the lighting and the details that can be seen in this composition. The flower just pops visually off of the black backdrop.

I like this one best because curve of the red petal seems to cradle the center of this flower like a tree 'cradles' a nest. Love the rich reds and the white & pink hues pop out nicely too! Shame the the center portion is not in sharp focus. You don't mention what Aperture, Shutter speed or ASA this was taken with. The reason why I mention that is that you can get some real nice Depth of Field where the majority of your composition will turn out in sharp focus with a 6.0 aperture and slower shutter speed 1/8 sec (you may have to experiment) and an ISO of 50. Of course you will need a tripod or an extremely steady hand. When going for a higher aperture, slower shutter and less grainy ISO speed you will get some very lovely macros (I have on several occassions)

Boy, Mr. Tooth Fairy, your really pulling our teeth with all these sightings of you:-) Tim, if this continues you will have enough in the series to do a storybook:-) Having gone through the stack of entries I put this in my top 7 - as always love the details you have added here that make this shot of a down-and-out Tooth Fairy - from his downtrodden expression to the pliers lying on the ground to the hole in the sock to the down-turned wing to the trash can and the hand handing him a spare (coin) tooth. Ya know, I think you may have crafted a character with the same charm/interesting character to watch as Charlie Chaplin's The Tramp. The lighting, composition, and color tones are excellent. Just another thing with the details - I have to ask was it intentional or a happy accident that the only letters visible on the trash bin spell RUM?
