Dissolutionby Mal37Comment: Love the partial flower composition that has it lying on the diagonal for it adds visual interest to the floral shot! There is some nice detail on the portion of the flower that extruds out from the center but much detail is lost of the petals. I think the focus was on that portion and with a faster shutter speed and aperture you lost the details because of where the focus was or too much light entering in that it blew out some highlights of the white flower. A white flower on a white backdrop could be tricky with getting correct exposure. You could try bracketing - taking the shot at different aperture setting & shutter speed. Keep the ISO at 100 like you did here, but you might want to play around with a higher Aperture setting to get a greater Depth of Field - I recommend you play with a 6 or higher (Just be aware that if you use a slower shutter speed which you might have too you will need a tripod or a steady surface to place the camera to avoid blur). |

Whatever 05by KenComment: Wow, great processing! You really boasted up the tones such that now the reds of the ornaments really pop of the bright white backdrop! The swirls on the ornaments are hypnotic. Very much a nice abstract study on lines and curves in this composition. |

Day 05 - Marzipanby hajekaComment: Love the taste of marzipan:-) Lighting is great as that your treats show wonderful colorful detail. Composition looks visually appealing but there is one more thing you can do for this tasty treat to make it even more visually compelling. First crop - a square crop would keep the focus tightly on the main subject. There is too much 'negative' space top & bottom framing the image. A closer crop would keep our eyes feasting on the dessert:-) |

Frosted Woodpeckerby MaryOComment: Very nice...it looks like a magical wind has blown in and the woodpecker is sitting it out while it passes by. Perhaps ol' Man Winter is running by and the bird has stopped it's business to watch. I would have loved to seen more detail in the body/feathers of the bird, but the soft lines do add to the dreamy feel of the composition. |

Catchby RetroesqueComment: Like the comment on your previous shot Bubbles this one too invokes the idea of watercolor or an aged patina on an old photograph. I like the color tones that add a dreamy feel to it. A happy day at the beach that has long since passed and it immortalized in a photo captured that day. |

5.12.08 Kitten in a cageby suemackComment: Great emotive shot. That paw held up against the cage bars and the wide eyed look of the kitten looking up at you just speaks of "pick me up and cuddle me please". Very cute photo. |

day 03.. Todayby hazeComment: A Black & White study in shapes and textures of everyday objects. Wonderful details seen in the jeans and the shoe. I also light the play of light and shadow upon the folds of the jeans. B&W tones are excellent. |

4by sillygoatComment: I really like the presentation of the lovely bride standing against the backdrop of a weathered old building with peeling paint. It brings quite another level to the saying 'something old and something new...etc'. The white of her gown really contrasts wonderfully against the red of the weathered building. Her pose is also relaxed and the lovely smile feels genuine - like you caught a wonderful candid moment. Well done. |

Hollyby MaryOComment: Love how the natural lighting brings out some lovely highlights in these beautiful irish wolfhounds fur. Great focus with nice sharp details seen. I would have loved to have had the eye more visible to make it even more visually appealing- through the hair you can see some gleam from natural lighting that you may have even captured a 'catchlight' if the eye was much more visible. I like the backdrop of the woods which really complements the dog. One other point I wish to make is that I think you could crop the photo even closer to bring us closer to observing the beauty of your pet (1/5 off of the left side such that it is more of a head shot). |

Chocolate Bourbon Balls 2by Mal37Comment: Of the three I like this shot the best because the presentation of the desserts is more visually appealing. The addition of the presents with their bold red color add to the idea that this vision is a 'gift'. It also makes me thing of a catalog shot that it advertising these yummy treats. My only critique is to shoot from a lower angle so that you only see the desserts against the red presents backdrop with no wood grain floor that detracts from the yummy chocolate brown tones and vibrant reds. |
