Three Peas in a Pondby bspurgeonComment: Greetings neighbor (making it a practice to comment on those near to my entry in the challenge results)!!! The color of water is like liquid sunshine! Love those rich golden tones. Good eye in spotting this moment - one head of a duck submerged underwater, but THREE! Very much captures a 'monkey see, monkey do' kind of moment. Good composition to have the reeds act as 'bookends' to showcase the main subjects in the middle. It subtley calls our attention back to the ducks. |

Prague Sunsetby shalrathComment: Greetings neighbor (making it a practice to comment on those near to my entry in the challenge results)!!! I love the colors here and the interesting angle in which you composed your shot. What I feel most when I look upon this image is the sight and smells of a day spend strolling along taking in the beautiful scenic views of this place. The sun is about to set and as one walks along appreciating the view there is the wonderful aromas of food being prepared. With tired feet we happily follow to find a place to eat and rest. |

Rememberlin'by swaroskjiComment: Voted earlier coming back to leave a comment. The rectangular shapes of these 'stacked' blocks creates geometric patterns that draw the eye in and holds our attention - it is almost hypnotic. The addition of a person to your composition not only breaks the pattern up but adds the human element that reminds us that each rectangle is a memorial to those who have been lost. The splash of red on the woman's shirt is the only additional color in a scene dominated by blacks, greys, and whites. That draws our eye directly to her and to me invokes the scene in Schindler's List of the little girl with the red balloon. It was the only color in a colorless world/scene. It makes me think that life and color can even be found in places of death and are dark. I also wonder what this composition would look like if you converted it to B&W with emphasis on boosting the contrast so that the tones are really dynamic and pop. Another interesting possiblity is to convert it to B&W but leave the red as the only splash of color calling our attention to the human element. Great symbology here and strong composition showing off the geometric patterns. |

Palouse Fallsby fluxnComment: Voted earlier coming back to leave comments now. Wow look at this spectacular view!!! Love how you composed it to show how the river bends and curves around the canyon rocks. The eye travels from that waterfall to the large pool then up and curving through the canyon walls. Colors are fabulous too! |

Nocturnal Warriorby aerogurlComment: Voted earlier coming back to leave comments. Look deeeeppp into my eyes and answer me 'Who?"! I can't break away - those big round yellow orbs of the hypnotic eyes on this owl! Great detail from the feathers to the beak to those staring eyes. The colors and lighting on your subject is outstanding! |

Eye Spy Parrotby trainComment: Voted earlier coming back to leave comments. Wonderful close-up shot of this parrot! Colors are great too with those rich soft yellows really popping visually off of the black background. Details in the feathers is astounding - one can see the individual 'hairs' on the feathers of this bird. |

A light in troubled timesby MaverickComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment now. Wow! This is a beautiful shot of this lighthouse! Love the beams of light that radiate out like rays. I also find it appealing that this is a night or very early morning shot and you can see the presence of stars. Great lighting such that we can see the bold striping on the lighthouse. Very scenic and beautiful! |

Shonaby dwterryComment: Voted earlier coming back to leave comments. What a great high key portrait! It is very challenging to get the tonal balance such that one still has good details and you have nailed the technique perfectly in this shot. Love the over the shoulder glance that Shona flashes at us. I think of those classic 40's - 50's pin-ups where the model shows off spunk and sex appeal with the over the shoulder flirtatious look. Your model certainly captures all that! Tones are great, lighting is superb, composition is wonderful - great work!! |

Beauty And The Beastlyby SteveJComment: Voted earlier leaving comments now. Great macro that captures some wonderful details on the fly and the floral 'resting' post it has landed on. I like how you composed the shot with the core of the flower close to the top left corner - the flower center seems to mimic the sun with the petals being rays that radiate out to all points of the composition. Within is a sharply focused fly that has great details seen in the wings and body. |

Chedoke Fallsby jegerComment: Voted earlier coming back to leave comments. This must have been a really beautiful place to visit ...and take a nice swim. Very scenic and serene landscape. The long exposure that captures a smooth feathery flow to the waterfall adds a magical feel to the scenery. Very beautiful. |
