There is an added charm to old towns and buildings when the photograph showcasing them appears old and weathered: we think of the 'old world charm' of a time that is long gone but only exists captured in the pages of a book or old photograph. This composition captures that look, feel, and charm.

Love the B&W scrapbook overlay look and feel to this photograph. It really calls attention to all the main elements of the photo much more than the color version. When I opened the larger version I instantly thought of the song in Mary Poppins about the lady on the steps of the cathederal: "Feed the birds - tuppins a bag".

The light tones and overlay on this park bench make me think of the beach - a distressed/weathered look adds appeal for it invokes a beachy or down by the beach feel.

That is absolutely stunning! I love how the overlay really calls up the fog and hush of the woods. The overlay and the B&W tones really emphasize the feel of the serene hush and beauty of the woods in the early morning hours. It is magical and breathlessly beautiful now! This just makes me want to re-read the Forest Lover by Vreeland for I imagine this is exactly the moments that the artist Emily Carr got to see when she was exploring the Pacific Northwest.

**O.K. now I am going to have to try this on an old image of a foggy day I managed to capture at a local park but was never happy with.

Lovely lavender/pink hues, beautiful exotic flower, and a calligraphied letter all combine to create a image full of blooming romance and far away places.

The overlay rivets add to the feel of being imprisioned or 'locked away'. The chair awaits empty perhaps for the next prisioner...very darky and moody.

Wow, yes you are right the overlay turning the backdrop to blue is the perfect compliment to the bird. The bird now invokes the imagery of the sun in a blue sky. Love the framing of the barren branches that act as a natural frame within the window/white frame border.

The orange sky with the textures looks like it was done in quick impressionistic brush strokes. The tree and all it's vivid colors also calls to mind some impressionistic styles - more specific I think some of Van Gogh's work such as Mulberry Tree, Trees in the Asylum Garden or Road with Cypress and Star

The end lies on it's side - words angled and sliding down to the end. A woman has crossed a bridge and comes across the sign peering at it with a measure of curiosity. Has she truly come to the end? Are we seeing a moment in her past...or near future? Very dark and foreboding in processing of the weathered overlay and the darker/muted tones.

Santa Barbara, then Ventura but don't know what the words are to the side that look like they end in "ivs" As a native Los Angeleno (born there) yes, Santa Barbara is in the vicinity north of Los Angeles and if you follow the coastline yes there are some beautiful beaches (at least if memory of the past matches with what it is today) Love the map overlay over the water for it calls to mind the lovely beaches of the coastline and the beaches of Santa Barbara as well.
