Classic New Yorkby dahlinComment: Love the details on the skyscrapers in the foreground - and love how you have the seascape/bay included in the backdrop to the far right and left. You have great dynamic B&W tones that really pop visually. |

Lighter Canyon de Chelly by pmichaudComment: Both compositions are interesting, but I find myself drawn to this one over the other. Stormy Canyon is dark and foreboding but I find that the clouds are a tad too dark in processing and the canyon walls have 'too much' detail that it calls attention away from the other neat features in the photo. Lighter Canyon is more natural in colors and details - I also like how there is that field below that adds interest to the shot. |

The Parkby dahlinComment: I too like the processing that turns this photograph into an interesting vector graphic. The B&W tones are wonderfully dynamic. Had I not known that this was originally a photo I would have thought was vector art. I think this would look great hanging on a wall. |

Mayon Eruption 2009by LandzEncaComment: Very dramatic - the volcano looms large and captures my attention instantly. The lava flow really glows off of the dark mountain. Menacing yet very beautiful. |

Buttermere, Cumbria by salmiakkiComment: Absolutely stuning! Love the composition of the path of the water as it flows into the lake. My eye also flows from the flowing water path to the earthen path to the right. The fence that spans from the land to the lake also adds visual interest. Love how there are the two lone trees on the left to balance out the heavy tree lined path on the right. And right in the middle is the splendor of the mountain range that rises over the lake. Beautiful colors as well! I think that this is the same location as Scotto's photo Buttermere yes? Loved the scenery in the photo that I composed a poem years ago that I believe would fit your photo quite nicely as well.
Gaze upon my valleys and lakes
and in you shall awake
the desire to roam
in the fields below.
Gather your walking
stick, abandon
your shoes and let
the land caress your
bare sole. |

threetreesby KristinaGComment: Minimalism at it's best. Love all the lines in the composition: the lines of the green field with one on the diagonal and another horizontal, the lines within the field of green, and lastly the linear bands of color in the sky. The cherry on top is those three trees which add balance and further visual interest. Very lovely. |

View-from-the-High Lineby mariucaComment: I like the interesting pattern I see here. Nature's skyline with it's towering structures of the purple flower plants. Man's skyline with the towering buildings that rise to the sky. |

BRYCE_1123by picksterComment: Wow, the orange-red tones of the canyon just pop off of the sky blue horizon! Bryce canyon is indeed a beautiful place to see and photograph. Lovely scenery and well captured. |

No sudden movesby tomeComment: 'Walking the Twisted Path' is what came to mind when I saw this. And that of course can have several meanings: the twisted trees that align the path, the curve of the road, life as a twisted path that we walk...The inclusion of the man in the shot does indeed add visual and human interest to the composition. The man in the photo also gives the viewer a sense of scale; how grand and large the scene is in which he walks. |

Canoe, Penobscot Countyby Bear_MusicComment: The scene is beautiful. Hmm, I seem to be in much the same camp as other commenters. I love the sky and the reflections in the water. The lone canoe adds visual interest. The super saturation on the trees to the far left and mayhap perhaps the red component in on the shore is a bit overwhelming to the scene. It just doesn't seem to sit well with the blue sky and blue water with the HDR works well. Hmmm, have you tried converting this to a B&W to see if the dynamic tones work better in that format? |
