Village of Colorby AllenPComment: Wonderful vantage point to see the colorful buildings, the boats docked and the sea beyond. Photo has a lot of visual interest to capture and hold my eye. A high above average shot (7) but I think it may suffer from being a tad bit too saturated with the processing. I love the color and the composition but I feel that the color is a bit overpowering to my eye. Scaling back the saturation just a touch but keeping the colors rich and not overpowering would strengthen the composition. |

Aloneby Mwilton111Comment: Now THAT is just out and out spooky, eerie...and very well done. Love how you have the house framed between the two trees which silhouetted against the night sky evokes the feel of spookniness. The glowing floating word of 'alone' hovers in front of the house. Home Alone - got that loud and clear. The hovering word shines in the night - perhaps it is the ghost of the house who is either communicating it is a lonely spirit or it is a warning to leave, leave this abode alone. |

Summer nightby GlanniComment: Wow, look at that fantastic blue in the glaciers! Love the mountainious region in the background that complements the shape and span of the ice-blue glaciers in the forefront. Clouds are spectacular. This is a high above average shot (7) but there is one thing holding it back from being in the exceptional category. Oh, no doubt the scene was fabulous to experience; not grading it on that but on the composition. I find that the reflections of the clouds in the water makes the composition too busy and draws focus away from those fabulous glaciers and the mountain range beyond. Cropping out the reflections of the 'popcorn' clouds but keeping some of the water in the shot would allow your main focus to be stronger and shine. |

Mug to Pugby karenkComment: What a cute shot of these two 'youngsters':-) Love the greeting they are giving each other...heh, normally it is the puppy/dog that has their tongue out ready to great someone. Here it is the boy that has his tongue out in a comic greeting. |

Breatheby njsabsComment: Great B&W tones and love the play of light and shadow upon the girl's hair, folds of dress, and skin. The mood is eerie and oddly tranquil. Serene and tranquil because you have the soft undulating flow of the dress and the flowing hair. The photo is eerie in the sense that the nose and mouth of this faceless girl is under the surface of the water - I get the surreal sense of her drowning. |

The Return of Madame Xby tangueraComment: So close to that 6 - really should have been higher. Your composition and lighting in this photo is top notch Johanna; the commentors and the non-participants show that they too felt this was a lovely shot. Regardless of final score this was a beautiful capture and one that you very well should be proud of. |

I Don't Want to Clean Upby dahlinComment: Hoho-whoah! Look at the pouty annoyed look on her face! Great shot of this little girl staring you down:-) The glittery headband takes on the aspect of a tiara as this little princess declares that she will NOT pick up after the mess seen in the background. As you said she was all giggles after but you definitely caught a moment of defiance;-) Kudos to you for capturing a great expression and one that the backdrop plays well into. |

Adirondack Breezeby NeilComment: Love the bold and brilliant colors of the balloon as it travels across the sky. You captured a great shot of a colorful 'man-made rainbow':-) And what further compliments the scene is the rich, colorful autumn landscape below! |

Abel Tasman Trackby spiritualspatulaComment: Love the rule of thirds in this composition. The unique tree perched on high catches my attention straight off the bat. I then travel to the blue-green of the ocean that spreads across the center and finally to gaze upon the expanse of land on the far distant shore in the right half of the shot. Great colors and beautiful place to relax and daydream. |

Fort Worthby Yo_SpiffComment: Love the how the tracks just branch out and blossom towards the city in the backdrop. B&W shows off the leading lines and the shapes within this trainyard. |
