Limited Trustby dahlinComment: Nice and bold dynamic B&W tones on this capture. Some great highlights in this little girl's hair, skin tones are wonderful and the design on her dress practically pops off the page. Her expression does seem mistrustful - something off site of the camera has caught her attention as she casts a wary eye. I (we) are left wondering just what is it that is causing her alarm bells to go off; whom or what is the cause for suspicion. |

The Corner Officeby JEFFJSBComment: Even amoung decay and ruin there is always life. I find it interesting that in this ruin of a building there is greenery growing. And it is not just the brown dull weeds that further speak decay it is actual green sprigs, grass or moss. Two decrepit chairs...heh, makes me think of the saying sit and watch the grass grow. If this was a corner office then mayhap the word spray painted on the tan chair is an editorial comment on how things were run; "sloppy". Interesting presentation and composition on urban decay. |

Taj Mahal, Agraby dougi555Comment: A very lovely and stunningly beautiful shot of this monument. Love the details of the Taj Mahal and it's twin reflected in the water. Great composition too for it adds visual interest that draws the eye in with the leading lines of the pathway that leads the eye straight up to your main focus. Just one little critique - I think if you moved down the pathways such that they appear to be emerging from the the bottom right corner and the bottom left corner the leading lines would be even more stronger and thus improve the visual impact of the photo even more. |

Portuguese Haikuby jjbeguinComment: Love the silhouette and shapes of the trees that emerge and bend in the slight blue tinged fog. The curves, the shapes of the forest do speak poetically and it is beautiful to observe. I think the square crop complements the photo for the tops of the trees to touch the top while the trunks of the two in the foreground act like a natural frame for the forest beyond. My only critique is that I think the border need not have been so thick - a thin border would have served just as well AND we would have been drawn into the larger scene of the beauty you present in the composition. |

...never let me goby skewsmeComment: Fabulous detail from the faces to the fur on the bodies. And the pose does support the title - they look like they are hugging:-) |

Ocean wavesby ScapeshotsComment: Simply beautiful ocean scenery - love the soft colors. Great detail in the craggy and rough hewn rocks. I can almost hear the crash and roar of the ocean waves upon the shore. |

Twelve inches of Tatsoiby wheeleddComment: O.K. I'll admit - I got curious and looked up just what Tatsoi is ....now I'll have to look for it in the market for the taste sounds intriging. My best guess is that you are proud that you grew it yourself judging by including the ruler in the shot and/or it is a subtle reference to the 'size' of the flavor. Lighting is good on the plant itself with nice play of light and shadow on the leaves. As to the composition - it will not hold a vast majority of people's attention. It needs something more than the plain black background to 'flavor' it. The choice of ruler to measure the size of the plant is not very complementary - given that it 'advertises' Garfield Tea and what it is good for - constipation and headaches. A plain wooden ruler would perhaps been better. |

Stare Downby gwilton111Comment: This elephant shot has a lot of potential to score high if some elements within the composition were in sharper focus. First off, I love that you composed the shot to show off the texture of the skin and that we can gaze into this elephant's eye. However, because of the focus, a lot of detail is lost especially the eye. From your title the main focus of the shot is to be the eye but it is rather blurred. Your focus point should have been on the eye and from there a high aperature (8 or more but you might also have to boost the ISO to prevent blur) to get a greater DOF both in the foreground and background. |

Dawn on the Texas Gulf Coastby signal2noiseComment: Love the clouds and the dramatic colors in these great wide expanse of nature. An added visual bit of interest is those fabulous rays of sunlight shooting through the clouds. My critique and that is that while the clouds are very dramatic and the sway of the tall grasses is in sharp detail, I think the saturation and detail has been bumped up juuuuusssst a tad too much that it looks too over-processed. Lastly, Those really, really dark clouds on the top third of the photo don't do much for the composition overall - it calls attention away from the wonderful light that is cast on the middle clouds - look at the golden outline in the top halves (fabulous play of light!). I would crop those darker clouds out which would give this a more panoramic feel and further strengthen the wide open space of beauty seen here. |

Scarby suebg1Comment: Wow, the B&W processing really calls up the dramatic differance in the light and dark shades in the lion's main. The B&W really draws our attention in to focus on this capture of the lion. Love the swaying weeds in the savanna that create a nice backdrop. While a good shot I think that a closer crop would make the composition even stronger. A crop closer to just include the head and neck would bring us closer to the majestic beauty of this lion. I think having the body with partial chest and partial leg visible only makes the photo feel chopped and incomplete. Play up the strengths you have with the strong detail and dynamic details of a head portrait of the lion. |
