| 05/26/2007 06:10:24 PM | Silky Smooth Sunsetby usgpindyComment: Hello from the Critique club, my name is Jon Rowe, and i will be looking at your image this evening :)
Composition/Lighting : compsition and lighting is beautiful here. might push the horizon itself up a little, but that's nitpicking.
Challenge : i think the reason for the sub-6 scores was they saw this as meeting the challenge through title only. the image itself does not scream out silky or smooth, but with the title it can be shoe-horned in. it's a good score for this image, about where i would guess that it would end up.
Conclusion : great capture, and great editing. you did well! keep up the great work :D
Keep on shootin!
Good luck on your future challenges:)

Composition/Lighting : The lighting could not be anymore perfect here. composition is a bit lacking, though. the centered subject with nothing around it makes me want more, and somewhat lacks the "wow" factor. even if it was having the dog laying, where it didn't look uncomfortable.
Challenge : definitely meets the challenge. beautiful dog, and gorgeous silky smooth hair. you portrayed this well!
Conclusion : great job, i think that with the same lighting and a different composition (i know dogs are so hard to work with) this could have scored higher. you did a great job, though. very nice work :D
Keep on shootin!
Good luck on your future challenges:)

Composition/Lighting : lighting on this is spot on, VERY nice. the only thing i could say about this to improve would be possibly placing the horizon line on the top third or bottom. nonetheless, that's just if i had to nitpick. you did a great job on this. very nice tonemapping, and everything else works very well together.
Challenge : meets the challenge perfectly. everything leads right to the point of the end. very nice, i gave it an 8
Conclusion : you did very well, i honestly can't think of anything that jumps out bad about this image. keep producing great work. great job!
Keep on shootin!
Good luck on your future challenges:)

Composition/Lighting : composition wise, this seems random but i think it would work if the lighting was quite a bit better, or if a slower shutter speed was used to show flow, then it would be smooth.
Challenge : i really don't see this fitting the challenge, for the main reason of it being incredibly abstract. very nice attempt though. i like the colors, and the natural gradient here.
Conclusion : pretty much got lower score i imagine for the abstract nature of it. the subject itself before shooting i'm sure looked extremely silky and smooth, but the way it was portrayed through your picture in my opinion is somewhat rough and abstract. Keep joining challenges and growing with us all. You're doing well!
Keep on shootin!
Good luck on your future challenges:)

Composition/Lighting : classic vanishing point shot, done well also. i think the reason for all the sub-6 votes is because of the top tight crop. if tilted back a little more, i feel it would have done better seeing the actual vanishing point. here the viewer is left wondering, which sometimes is a good thing but i think in this instance the vanishing point needs to be visible .
Challenge : this definitely meets the challenge, but as stated the end needs to be seen to finish the point of vanishing.
Conclusion : very nice score, good placement, and well shot. you should be proud of this. very nice job. keep up the great work
Keep on shootin!
Good luck on your future challenges:)

Composition/Lighting : composition and lighting are perfected in this. exposure is spot on, the unlevel horizon probably threw a few off, but as one said the phone poles show that it is naturally unlevel, and that is more than likely the reason for all the 5 votes. I cannot think of one thing that needs to be changed to this beautiful image.
Challenge : This definitely meets the challenge. The road is beautiful, clouds are amazing, and very well put together, especially using the basic editing rules. very well done.
Conclusion : this is a great shot, i honestly cannot think of any way to make it better. i sat and stared at this for sometime, and literally think it's perfect. congratulations on the top 20 placement which this great image, very good job. nice choice w/ the b&w conversion, it works well.
Keep on shootin!
Good luck on your future challenges:)

| 05/26/2007 05:39:29 PM | Silk Milkby shutter22Comment: Hello from the Critique club, my name is Jon Rowe, and i will be looking at your image this evening :)
Composition/Lighting : composition wise this shot i feel is alright. It is smack dab in the middle, but i think it works in this instance. it just seems too compacted in on the sides. possibly more room on the sides? lighting, seems fine. i do not really see a real problem with it. there really is not a lot of detail in the milk, which is the real focus point of this entry.
Challenge : overall it definitely meets the challenge, but with the direct lighting, i'm guessing is what you used, there are no real curves or detail in the milk, it's just somewhat there. i think that's what made this a sub-6 image. you did a great job on it though, so please don't be discouraged. i feel it has great contrasts and full tonal range. keep up the great work!
Conclusion : great job, i think you did well, and received some good feedback from other users. Keep participating and growing, you're doing very well.
Keep on shootin!
Good luck on your future challenges:)
