Good shot for your first entry, you were up against some tough competition in this challenge. You have a nice idea here, and it shows that you have a good eye. The only thing letting you down are the technicals.

The most important thing to learn about in photography is lighting. Cameras love lots of light! Once you start to understand lighting you'll see everything else improving as well (focus, sharpness, colours)

I'll be honest - I like the colours and the sharpness here, the wide angle adds an element of interest. However, the composition lets it down. I'm not sure what the main subject is supposed to be (my eye is drawn to the tree, then the house, then the leaves in the foreground, then the tree...) Also, the horizon cuts straight through the middle of the shot, which gives it a mediocre/snapshot feel.
