This reminds me of the style of Tim Burton. Great shot!

This is one of the best shots I've ever seen on DPC... or anywhere for that matter. I'd love you to post a larger version somewhere so we can see the detail.

Excellent work.

I love this shot. It really conveys a sense of movement, you can almost feel him jumping in the air, and the effect of motion blur on his hands works really well. The crop, composition and angle really add to this.

I love the grain and the tone in the background as well.

It was only after examining the photo in detail I noticed the figures on the bottom left. I assume they are intended to be the main subject / focal point of this shot?

They're far too dark and don't really stand out enough. Also, there are a lot of artifacts along the skyline.

PB = "Personal Best" i.e. This is now the highest scoring shot in your portfolio.

Nice composition. But I find the lush green colours of the trees on the island don't offset well against the grey clouds and the grey-ish water. Would have been interesting to see what sort of light you'd have got at sunrise or sunset.

However, you got a nice sharp image here and a pretty good score for a Free Study (which are always tough to compete in)

Congratulations on the ribbon. This is a superb shot. And yes, it's a European garden spider (Araneus diadematus) you've got there. I'm so jealous of the nice dof you got on the web and the perfect lighting. (Check my profile for my attempt at the same species, similar angle), you really nailed the background as well.

Congrats on your first ribbon! - I was looking at your profile only last night and something was telling me you were about to ribbon.
