You chose a very difficult photo for the backlighting. Get the deatil in the tower and lose the sky, or get the sky and lose the detail. You did a pretty good job of finding the middle ground. I think framing the photo so that the tower was to one side or the other would make the photo more dynamic and give it better balance.

This is a very creative way to meet the challenge. Backlighting the upset child is a great idea. At the risk of being redundant, the small size of the photo makes it very difficult to see any detail in the photo. Resizing for the DPC maximum would really help, as would adjusting the tilt.

Great choice of subject matter for a backlighting challenge. Very good tight crop on the bat with spread wings and his buddies. Compositionally the photo is just too busy with all the branches and leaves.

The glowing egg was a great choice for the backlight challenge. The warm tones of the photo are nice and comforting. However, the front and center composition seems a bit static, and doesn't give the photo much life.

Your composition looks very good, and the color of the umbrella is interesting. I'm probably being redundant this late in the vote, but the small size makes it very difficult to see detail. Resizing for the DPC maximum would really boost your score.

Sunrise in the Deep Blue

This underwater photograph was a great choice for the backlit challenge. The aqua tones are very nice and relaxing. But the business of the composition takes away from the relaxed feeling, and has my eyes jumping all over. Emphasizing a key subject to the photo would really help.
