HARD ROCK, SOFT WATERby dippydazComment: *Critique Club*
"HARD ROCK, SOFT WATER" does meet the qualification of the 2 second challenge. I think you had a great idea in trying to capture a close up of the water and its movement.
Looking at the image, it seems over exposed. The colors are a little too bright, especially on the leaves the almost look unreal. The timing of the water was nice. I think the shot is framed very well. You left the leaves in the shot, which allows you to stand out from the rest of the water/waterfall entries. Also the focus seems a little off, possibly the camera was not on a sturdy tripos while you had the 2 seconds going.
Unfortunately I really think the exposer hurt this piece. But I was looking at your portfolio and based on your work, I really have to wonder if you wanted the shot to look like this. Even more so since you named the piece HARD ROCK maybe you were trying to go with an edgy/harsh piece. |

In 2 seconds sirby garlicComment: *Critique Club*
"In 2 seconds sir" is a piece that definatly grabs your attention in the 2 second challenge. You have defiantly meet the qualifications of the challenge.
I love how bold you were with the piece. The color choice was probably a love it or hate it factor for voters. I personally love the contrast. I would be curious to see a white background but I really think compared to this one it would just seem dull. It is amazing how much the liquid looks unreal, almost like a ribbon, especially in the stream. I really am surprised you didn't score higher. Most the time bright, full frame images just capture the voters.
I think you composition is just prefect, not too tight at all. Too much more of the glass would take away from the movement of the liquid. Really great work here. |

Ominous Skyby MstarkeyComment: *Critique Club*
"Ominous Sky" is a nice addition into the 2- Second challenge. It was nice to see a different idea and concept for the challenge.
The image itself grabs the viewers attention, it has to with such an enormous sky. I would have the same opinion as many of the voters have listed, this is an excellent shot but the garage takes away from the score. I think the lighting on the garage just grabs your eye an takes you away from the sky. The lighting on the house itself is great and is very different from the usual. The lighting overall is just interesting, did you happen to have a car parked out there with the headlights on? The angle from the shadows cast by the trees would make think so. The composition is nice, I love how you were able to capture the sky. This was a great shot and I think you had a wonderful idea. I can't wait to see your future challenges.

Rushing Rapidsby AriskenComment: *Critique Club*
"Rushing Rapids" is a great addition into the water challenge. I was really happy to see so many different perspectives.
The image itself is very intriguing, I think the colors you captured separated it from the other water entries. The glow from the water is a very amazing blue. I like the composition of the shot, the branches and rocks make a nice framing that is nice placed and not forced. The lighting in the shot looks nice, it can be a challenge to use the natural light, but you did a great job. Great timing to capture the movement of the water.
You defiantly have a great grasp on the the challenge, only your second challenge and still doing amazing. Keep up the good work. |

Rustic Chicby lauren_0788Comment: *Critique Club*
"Rustic Chic" is a nice addition into the footwear challenge. You have defiantly meet the qualification of the challenge.
The image is a very nice one. The wind blowing through her hair is a nice touch. I really like that you choose to shot outdoors to enhance the rustic/nature look. I think the image probably lost some points because the footwear really wasn't the focus, I personally think of the girl as the subject and the shoes a nice accessory. The lighting, gently falling on her is a nice balance for a soft subject. You might try playing with the contrast to enhance the colors. This would probably make the overall image a little stronger. One thing I have noticed over a few challenge is that the bright or vibrant colored image score higher. I personally like the composition for a portrait but not so much for the challenge.
You defiantly a very good first entry, I look forward to your future entries. After the first challenge it gets easier and I think you are off to a great start!
