You have captured such vibrant colors. I think it's a terrific fall shot, but if someone showed me this photo and asked me to guess a category, I would never think of "Dead End." Therefore, even though I think it's a great shot I have given it a lower score.

While I do see the "end of the road", my eyes travel further into your picture to the mountains in the background. For me, your photo is a bit too dark overall. I would have liked to seen a bit more contrast or saturation. I also wonder how this would look with more of the bottom cropped out?

I think you have indeed caught of feeling of desperation, it's very emotive. Some of the whites seem a bit overblown to me, but that's just me.

I like the sunset colors in the background. The flash is a bit harsh on the sign, but I know that's how the reflectives work. Bumping up a point after a second look.

I like your idea and composition. I think with a few simple changes it could work even better. For one, the background seems very grainy to me and I think maybe a solid black would have been better. Also, the light source is a bit harsh on the cigarettes and dish. I don't have expensive lighting equipment, but I sometimes find by taking the shade off the lamp it helps a bit. I like the creativity you show.
