Alice in Gothland by yankoComment: Originally posted by TCGuru: Congratulations on the blue! Did you gel the flash? The tones in these are just great. |
Thanks. No gel. I prefer to work with a full color image if I am going to work it up more in post. It makes it easier to create masks and such. |

Does a bear shoot in the woods?by jdannelsComment: Wow. Great shot! There are many things to like here but one thing that stands out for me is the fence. Up close it's visible and acts like nature is caged up like an animal at a zoo but when viewed from a distance the fence disappears and man and nature become one again. I think I prefer to see it at distance. |

by yankoComment: Originally posted by BrennanOB: This is very clever, and well executed. id love to know your thought process on this one. Did you bring along the TV? how did you decide to walk down the tracks from the primary shoot location?
The composition is very strong, especially using the model to divide the old buildings from the new, setting up a nice sense of urban dystopia. |
We planned ahead of time to shoot at three locations (cathedral, train tracks and cemetry). In three hours I took 238 photos. There's a lot I haven't posted but the keeper rate was pretty high for me. We had a good shoot.
As for this idea, it's the first thing I thought of doing when she said she had the dress and wanted to do something a little dark. I also had the spare tv so I brought it with us. At first I was going to smash it around but decided I may want to use it one more time for something else.

Or is it more like the flower is lit from above with a snoot placed just between the model and flower above her head creating the resulting light being cast unto her face?
All very beautiful shots indeed. |
Yeah she is holding it behind the flower. I cloned out a little part of it that was showing near the stem. |
