King riPby pawdrixComment: I'm appalled. The challenge was to enter your best of 2009 ribbon winning outtakes. |

DSC_7164.jpgby trnqltyComment: I like the lighting and atmosphere in these shots. I'm not crazy about the pose in this one though (i.e. the contortion and the free floating arm). Maybe that would work better for me in a different composition/POV but that said I do like the angle in which the head is facing the camera. |

The model reminds me of Michael Phelps. |
The sketch effect was created using the find edges and cutout filters. The background on those layers were partially knocked out via the "blend if gray" sliders under layer styles. More adjustments were made using curves and masks. The Rough Pastels filter produce the canvas texture you see and the paint behind the model was accomplish with a custom brush. I also lighten the shadows on the model and darken the background a bit for a softer contrasty look.
This is a similar image I did a while back with the sketch look but less refined:

cubicby LutchenkoComment: Have you tried straigten her eyes with this edit? I'm wondering if the quadrants you added might minimize the tilt in the orange. I actually prefer the eyes uneven but saw in your notes that you wanted everything to appear straight. |
