The Shooterby glad2badadComment: You've managed to hide every face in this shot including the woman's face in the background thanks to your DOF. Cleverly crafted. |

Housewifeby Rino63Comment: This is the sort of thing I hoped to see in this challenge. The missing face has purpose and not just to meet the challenge. When I look at this I see a thousand faces that make up this portrait of a housewife. Gets a 10 from me. |

Lens Envyby hotpastaComment: Lens envy indeed. Both the lens in the photo and the one you used to take this slick image with. |

Fields Of Goldby TejComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
This shot just begs to be minimalistic and I think that was your intent here. Unfortunately, the trees (those up close) and the cloud detract from that goal, IMO. As such it's stuck between not needing a subject and needing one and I don't think this has enough going for it to survive in that realm.
That's pretty much it. Everything else in terms of the the technicals are good. |

morning lite on Bellsby griz210Comment: Greetings from the Critique Club
I can definitely see where this would be difficult to shoot correctly. If this was shot in RAW I would suggest trying a program like Photomatix (there's a free trial download online), which allows you to produce HDR (high dynamic range)/exposure blending of a single or multiple raw files. It would definitely help with a shot like this.
The color is a bit odd to me. I assume you were trying to recreate what you saw but I don't think it translates well here. The image could be sharper and have more local contrast but otherwise isn't bad. The composition is ok but it compacts what is probably a more grandiose scene. However, without knowing what the rest of the area looks like the cropping may have been necessary but I bring it up only to illustrate a need for that in a challenge like this. Landscape shots tend to do very well when they have a sense of the infinite about them and the way to convey that is with the composition showing as much as you can possible. Using rule of thirds also helps to position that space to give the image that infinite feel.
That's pretty much it. I like the fact that this is unique and had you captured it better you would have been looking at a much higher score so just consider this a good hack at a fastball to steal a baseball term. Good luck in the future! |
