I'm sure you are hating that dot but obviously you can't do anything abou that but that is the first thing I notice only because this is such a splendid shot otherwise. The lighting is superb and the way you processed it (if much at all) is perfect. Great job.

Very creative idea here. I would love to see it explored further perhaps getting closer to focus on the swirls and less of the dark background. The main thing I'd look to improve is to make the shot more appealling technically. The noise for example, doesn't help at all, IMO. I like it with black and white but I rarely like it in color images and I would say most people are like that also. The compostion is another thing I'd look to improve. Getting closter to the subject should help in regard.

The lighting is a bit too intense, IMO. Also it doesn't work well with the composition in that it produces a very strong focal point which doesn't take you anywhere except the middle. I think you would have been better served to not light this from within but rather from the outside, using light to give form and shape to the subject. On the positive, I the image is nice and clean and has crisp sharpness.

Curious, is it a requirement in Icelandic photographey that a landscape must be used as a backdrop? :P Just joking. Good shot. The distortion adds to the drama of the shot.
