Very fantasy like. I like the composition and the strong lighting. Would have liked to see the background a little more sharp and the details less muddy but I take it that's because it's a print or monitor screen? If so it might have been better to smooth it more with noise reduction to gain a little more clarity and make it less muddy.

Btw, this critique is based on what I think would have improved your score not a critique on your art, that of which you should feel free to present in any way you see fit.

To be honest I think this is a bit of a stretch for the challenge. In my opinion, the image doesn't convey what your title claims which frankly is just conjecture on your part.

That said I don't take off 60-70% just because I think something is DNMC so I still rated this based primarily on your photo's merits which in general are ok but not exemplary. The lighting, color and composition do just enough to present the subject but nothing about them is taken to the next level if you know what I mean.

The flow of the coins within the frame is very pleasing as is the subtle lighting which help provide focal points for the eyes. The only thing I might do differently is play up the textures more by applying a more aggressive curves adjustment or dragonizer or something that enhances the textures more.
