Color of Sun Burstby BrianRComment: Good color and lighting but composition isn't working for me. The way the background interacts with the foreground is the issue for me. All the parts don't seem to fit well together within the frame. |

He's Safeby psartComment: I'm having trouble finding the still life in this shot. I see lots of stopped motion but that's it. |

The Secret Kiss...it's there...just look closely.by PuckzzzComment: It's just my take but motion life is different than still life with motion. The smoke is motionless in this photo but so is every other subject ever captured with a camera so I can't accept that as meeting the still part and since smoke is never still in reality it doesn't convey stillness either. Just my opinion. |

Dipby colorcarnivalComment: To me a still life is one where the person shooting or painting it controls all the aspects to the image, i.e. it's composition, lighting, etc. Composition is the only thing I see here that you authored. The lighting and the subject matter appeared to be found and unaltered by you in capturing this shot. The shot does have interest but for me it's not a good fit for the challenge. Just my opnion though. |

Wagging Tailby RosacalacaComment: Well technically there's life that's still and something in motion but it's not in the spirit of the challenge I'm afraid. It's also not a very engaging photo for me. It depicts a view that most would see just looking down at a dog. There's no new perspective to be had here. Shoot from a different angle preferrably one that gives energy to that motion, clarifies it, gives focus to it, would be better. Here the motion doesn't stand out at all. If there is curvature to the tail maintain that so the essense of the tail is still there. As is it looks like the dog has a stump for a tail that is out of focus then anything else. |

A Gentle Breezeby JeniYComment: I like the textures and the lighting is decent. However, the motion feels a bit forced,IMO. It doesn't look real enough if I am to believe it's a gentle breeze causing the leaf to move. I suppose it could be coming from below through that opening but the natural tendency to feel breeze would be from the left or right not from below. It would have been easier to communicate the breeze if the leaf was attached to the branch and was then waving in the wind. |

Light Arrangementby DrAchooComment: I'm not sure having that bold border helps. It would if you didn't have the light streaks in it but since those are there I think it makes the crop feel too tight. |
