Immortal Legendby Meridian SageComment: If your camera is able, I would try a shallow DOF with a shot like this. You can't move the statue, but the background is pretty lame. A shallow DOF, accomplished by using a big aperture like F/2.0 or something, will blur that background into something more pleasant. Your composition is nice and I think works well. When I see photography of other art (like statues), I'm looking for something to add to the statue rather than just record it. This is most easily accomplished by dramatic lighting which gives us interesting shadows. If this is outdoors, perhaps trying close to sunrise or sunset... |

The Many Sides of Meby Meridian SageComment: Shadow was a tough challenge. Personally I was looking for images that had more to the story than just "the shadow". Of this type, I actually thought this was one of the better ones. You added color which gave interest and I do like the repeated pattern of your face. The extra shadows in the lower right should be gone as they confuse our eyes. Even the largest version of you (where your eye is way up in the top right) is a bit distracting because it doesn't "mesh" with the pattern of the other faces which move lower as they get bigger.
Exposure is nice. I wonder if a bit more contrast might give more pop without destroying some of the delicate detail. I gave it a 5, but lots of other shots like this got 4 or lower from me. |

Windby Meridian SageComment: This is quite interesting. It looks like a night shot to me with the dark clouds, but unless the turbines were all off I don't think it was.
Overall there are a few problems although I think you had a good idea. Overall processing seems a bit rough. There are spots on the right edge which look like burn marks. I'm not sure what that is. This color sky is not my favorite. Maybe it's personal preference, but I don't like light cyan as a sky color. The dark clouds are really interesting, but I wish they were a little sharper.
I'm guessing you were hampered in where you could stand to take the picture. Otherwise I would have walked closer to the turbines so they would have commanded more of the frame.
To sumarize, an interesting idea, especially if it is a night shot. The technical problems with the sky probably are the biggest limiting factor here. |

Nosferatuby RikkiComment: sorta looks like a short guy with a baseball hat. Nosferatu has some happenin' shoes too. :)
I like it though. There is another nosferatu entry though. It would have been like showing up at the prom in the same dress... |

Did you bring food?by shaverComment: I liked this shot. I thought the technicals were excellent. Lighting is nice and bright, but not overexposed. Sharpness is quite excellent. I found the rear bird to be distracting in two ways. A) I don't really like the way he's holding his head (but it's not like you can coach him). B) more importantly, I don't really like that he's not in the DOF. He is just as well lit as the first and commands almost as much space in the frame. I just wish he was a "subject" as well. The soft focus makes his eyes all weird too.
But really overall and excellent shot. |

Shades of Blueby SamDoe1Comment: Were you planning on bringing the glasses back? I'm not sure what the stickers are adding. I'd also prefer there were some true whites in the picture somewhere rather than an entirely blue cast. Nicely aligned though. |
