There is so much to love about this image but a couple of things that stand out for me is the great focus on the concentrating face and the decorations that helps to identify the period when taken. I love the way you have processed the b&w of the image too.

I looked at this image for quite sometime without looking at the title (just happened to fit nicely on my screen that way) trying to understand what I was looking at. I thought I could see an eye and a nose. I got a feeling of looking at a Picasso through opaque glass. All of that didn’t really matter as I was really just enjoying the image as a whole.

I then looked at you title and was a little confused but then your image took on a whole new impression and emotion. Funny how a title can do that sometimes.

A really beautiful image. It does remind me of the bush after a bushfire with charcoal trunks and singed grounds. It also looks like the bush during an ongoing draught. It could also be a very green Centennial Park and you’ve just played with the colours. What ever it is I love the effects.
