Let them goby hannekeComment: If I saw this photo again 80 years from now I would remember it. Even with my then 100 year old memory-lacking brain. It speaks straight to the heart of any human. The beautiful thing about art, especially yours, is that it can be interpreted many different ways. I interpret this very differently then Lentil. As opposed to it protraying letting go of all the negativity in our life, I see it as letting go of something BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING AND POSITIVE. The things that are hardest to let go of... your first love, your children when they grow up and move out, your dog that lived a long life and was your best friend that passed away, your passion that you had to give up because of an aquired disability. The bird cage is positioned right at your heart and this speaks to me... this represents the tough love and heartbreak that goes along with letting go. I first saw this picture a couple of months ago when I was going through my first heartache ever and it truly did help me to let go. And thats what your photos do Han. They stir up emotion and push for change!! And THAT is what makes an outstanding and unforgettable photographer. Without even looking in your profile, I could name off twenty images from heart that I can remember clearly. Because they deeply touched me. These include many of your husbands son... he seems like such an amazing child! And also, countless of your self portraits, as stated below, you are so good at portraying yourself in different ways, and as a frequent self-portraiter myself, I admire you for that. i can also vividly remember the pictures with the orange balloons and the other ones with the old birdcage. Lastly, I love looking at the photos of your art displays... that is such an inspiration, it motivates me to work hard at my art so that one day I too can be displayed in a museum, etc!
sooo, i guess what i am trying to say is...you rock.... HARD! |
