It's a Long Way Homeby jmsetzlerComment: 9 - Excellent symmetry and perspective. Like the depth. Not sure on the frame, but your call, obviously. |

Sunrise at Desert Viewby emaynerComment: 3 - Just can't see how such a large expanse could have been this 'sloped'/tilted. Apologies if wrong, but this really looks like it needs straightening (in post processing at least). A tweaking of what looks like a nice range of colors, to bring them out more, may also have lifted this. A more refined crop, especially bottom right (else included more as an element if it was good (and you had it, obviously)), also make this better in my opinion. |

I know where you sleepby red_geckoComment: 6 - Like this - just the reflections/'something' in the eyes, detracts too much in my opinion. Colors are very nice. Like the composition. Detail on the fur in focus is very good. Also good to see is that the eyes seem nice and clean. Up to 6 from 5. |

Sea Jellyby dr rickComment: 6 - Nice perspective/angle. Like the detail in the 'oral arms'. Perhaps a variation in the colors/tones/curves to give this a boost color-wise may have given this a little extra, although very difficult to adjust due to resulting contrast issues. Also, depending what you had to work with, a variation in composition, or else getting the whole jellyfish in focus, with this centered composition, may have also made this even better in my opinion. There are a few minor 'specks' here and there that, with advanced editing, perhaps could have been cloned out, but fairly minor. Up to 6 from 5. |

Wistfulby whiteroomComment: 8 - Very nice. Toning/b&w works very well. Really liked the braids, but especially the expression captured, which seems purely candid. Lovely face. Composition very good. Only few things were the nose 'hot spot' and the minor grain/'gamma'/contrast/something issues in the darker areas. Also in the upper right, but I think the shading/gradient there does add to the depth of this. edit:to add commentsMessage edited by author 2006-10-08 16:37:12. |

On The Battle Fieldby TransitComment: 8 - Like this, especially the gunfire - wish you had been able to capture 'more' within frame, but obviously difficult, especially with this 'zoom'. Good capture of the 're-enactment'. Liked the colors. Just seemed to be a little processing visible here and there - but apologies in advance if wrong. edit:to add commentsMessage edited by author 2006-10-08 16:33:11. |

Duneby John WhiteComment: 8 - Excellent colors, textures and patterns. At first look I thought this needed a slight nudge rotate up on the right, but on looking again it seems fine. The only few (and minor) things were what appears to be feint footprints in the sand and the very bottom left corner 'triangle', but again - minor. Good color/contrast control, also like the darker shaded cloud in the distance, which likely cannot be appreciated at this size. edit:to add commentsMessage edited by author 2006-10-08 16:33:08. |

Riley Bitesby xianartComment: 8 - This didn't look like 'prompted acting' to me. Tones work very well. Only thing that detracted in this for me was the upper left darker area (the thicker steel or such, the thinner angled 'whatever' adds, in my opinion). Maybe a slightly tighter crop, especially with those nice eyes, who knows. 'Once bitten twice shy'. edit:to add comments - edit2:typo & to say thank you, glad you liked my 'comments'Message edited by author 2006-10-09 15:24:39. |

concentrationby ursulaComment: 8 - This is a slightly 'contradictory' type image, in my opinion and took me a while to form an opinion on it. The lighting is very nice and the moment capture very good. The unusual combination of elements (bubbles, young male, little 'beard/goatee', etc) make this original. The main things that detracted (but very minor) were the barely discernible 'dirt under fingernails' (but again, the contradiction) and the slight grain/something, especially at the bottom middle to right, in the darker areas. edit:to add commentsMessage edited by author 2006-10-08 16:32:58. |

Early to Rise...by superdave_909Comment: 8 - Liked the simplicity of this and the tones used. Like that there is a name on the boat yet (at this size) cannot be read. Like the 'lost' horizon, etc. Perhaps just a fraction more contrast/something might have given this just a little more drama - but you may well have intended for this 'haze', which works well anyway in my opinion. edit:to add commentsMessage edited by author 2006-10-08 16:32:54. |
